The Kirkwood Eagles softball team had four sophomores sign their Letter of Intents recently.
Lexi Ferrari signed on to continue her career at Division II Missouri Southern State University of the MIAA, Morgan Frost signed with fellow MIAA member Missouri Western State University, Lexi Kinnaird signed with Division I University of Wisconsin-Green Bay out of the Horizon League, and Taylor Nearad signed with Iowa State of the Big 12 Conference.
Ferrari, an infielder from Rock Island, Ill., was a Second Team All-Region member last season after hitting .398 with 70 hits and 50 RBIs in her 176 at-bats. She also had a slugging percentage of .500.
Frost, a First Team All-Region and NFCA Second Team All-American outfielder from Gilbertville, Ia., knocked out 10 home runs last season and accumulated 72 RBIs, hitting .498 at the plate with a .749 slugging percentage.
Kinnaird, a pitcher hailing from Tiffin, Ia., is another returning First Team All-Region performer. Of her 30 appearances on the mound last season, Kinnaird pitched 21 complete games with a team leading 1.93 ERA and 163 strikeouts.
Nearad, the reigning NJCAA Division II National Player of the Year, had an historic season last year for the Eagles. The Solon, Ia., native led the entire nation in home runs (30), total hits (145), and RBIs (129). She had a batting average of .602 with a slugging percentage of 1.195.
