CEDAR RAPIDS -- The Kirkwood softball roster currently includes five players who have signed their Letters of Intent to their future schools. This afternoon, they added another as Emilee Meyer signed on to play at Missouri Southern State University.
Meyer, a outfielder from Muscatine, Iowa, started all 64 games as a freshman for the Eagles. She ended the season with a batting average of .404, which included 65 hits, 35 RBI's, and an on-base percentage of .520. Meyer also led the team with 36 stolen bases.
Meyer is taking a medical redshirt this season to recover from an injury sustained during the Eagles' fall season.
Meyer will be joining fellow teammate Lexi Ferrari, who also signed on to play for the Lions earlier this fall.
The Missouri Southern Lions are an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). Their softball program is led by head coach Melissa Chmielewski. Missouri Southern State University is located in Joplin, Missouri.
