CEDAR RAPIDS -- The National Champion Kirkwood women's basketball team saw two its players, Simone Goods and Deleyah Harris, awarded All-American status as announced this afternoon by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Goods was named to the First Team while Harris was named a Second Team All-American.
Goods, a Omaha, Neb., native and First Team All-Region member, dominated the league in her lone season in an Eagle jersey. Goods averaged team-highs with 17.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Goods converted on 67.9% of her field goal attempts, a mark which led the entire nation. Her 601 total points and 65 blocks ranked her eleventh and twelfth in the nation, respectively. She was named the ICCAC Athlete of the Week six times -- at least once in each month of the season -- and was also a two-time NJCAA National Player of the Week.
Harris, a fellow Omahan, was also a First Team All-Region performer this season for the Eagles. For the season, Harris averaged 14.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, while dishing out a team-high 2.9 assists per game. She ranked atop the ICCAC in both minutes played (382) and minutes per game (27.3) while ranking fourth in scoring, fifth in steals (28), and seventh in rebounding. Harris was an ICCAC Athlete of the Week award winner and was also selected as the NJCAA National Player of the Week in the month of December.
