Women's Basketball - Wed, Apr. 19, 2017

NJCAA.org | COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The awards continue to trickle in for the Kirkwood women's basketball program. This time it was their Hall of Fame head coach, Kim Muhl, who received the honor. As announced today by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Muhl was named the 2017 Spalding® Coach of the Year as voted on by the association's Division II women's basketball committee.

From the release:

Muhl guided the Eagles to an unblemished 37-0 record en route to the program's seventh national championship under his direction (1997, 2002, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2017). Kirkwood also matched its school record of 37 wins this season, which was set during its 2010 national title campaign.

In 28 seasons as Kirkwood's head coach, Muhl's teams have won 82 percent of their contests – posting 829 victories to go along with 16 Region 11 championships.

A 2011 NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame inductee, Muhl has coached more than two dozen NJCAA All-Americans, including 15 first-team honorees.
