Amanda Lambrecht and Jena Malmen honored by the NJCAA for their efforts on the field
Lambrecht a sophomore pitcher who graduated form Kirkwood with a 50-4 record over two years has been named to the 1st Team NJCAA All American team.  She posted a 27-2 record this season and helped lead the team to the national tournament.  In the national tournament she pitched 11 shut out innings and threw 27 strike outs.  She hurled 17 in the first game of the tournament versus Highland Community College.  The effort set a National Tournament record for most strike outs in a tournament game.    She was ranked #1 in the country in strike outs per inning and 3rd in the country in ERA with a 1.00.  This is year second honor, she was named to the 3rd team last season.  She will continue her career at Southern Illinois Edwardsville.
 
Malman, a freshman catcher, was named to the 2nd team for her efforts.  Jena was named Co-offensive player of the year for Region 11.  Jena finished the season ranked #1 in the country with the most home runs hit, she tallied 28 round trippers this season.  That is a school record for most in a season and career.
