For the second straight season the Grand View Vikings put together a second half comeback over the Storm of Simpson College.  This time the Vikings fought back from a 15-point deficit in the final thirteen minutes on the Storm's home floor in Indianola, gaining a 74-73 victory.

With only 1.6 seconds remaining in the game the Vikings took the ball out of bounds under their own basket, trailing by one point.  Grand View inbounded the ball to junior Jordan Gentry on the right wing and as he attacked the basket to score the game-winning field goal he was bumped and put to the free throw line.  Following a Simpson time-out, Gentry calmly sank both free throws to complete the dramatic comeback victory at Cowles Fieldhouse.

Gentry saved his best for late in the game, scoring nine of his team-high 15 points in the final three minutes.  Three of his points came with 2:43 remaining when he sank a corner three-pointer to tie the game for the first time since early in the first half.

The junior from Sioux City was only a small part of the great Grand View bench support.  The Vikings held a 35-4 advantage off the bench, as senior Sean Jones finished with nine points and sophomore Chad Malloy scored six points in a back-up role.

The Storm held a big advantage at the line as they went 23-for-27 from the stripe, while Grand View went only 8-of-15.  Both teams finished with four three-point baskets and the Storm out-rebounded Grand View by one.

Simpson jumped out to an eight-point advantage and saw their lead grow to as many as 15 when Zach Barragan made a three-pointer with 13 minutes remaining.

However, like many times this season the Vikings slowly chipped away at the lead, this time Grand View got a huge spark from the second unit of Malloy, Gentry, Isiah Cunningham, Amin Ekalino and Jones.  They were able to ignite a 31-15 run to finish the game.

Kevin Smith, who scored his 1,000 point in the win over Iowa Wesleyan, finished with 12 points for the Vikings.  While sophomore Kody Ingle chipped in with 12 points.

Grand View will not return to action until the New Year when they take on their fellow Des Moines neighbors AIB.  Grand View and AIB will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. following the women's contest.
