CEDAR RAPIDS, IA-- The Kirkwood Eagles squared off to another ranked opponent on Tuesday, April 15th. Heartland Community College (24-6) came into Cedar Rapids as the #6 team in the country (Click Here To View NJCAA Top 25 Poll). Tomorrow, the Egales travel to Rosemount, Minnesota to play Dakota County Technical College. The doubleheader will start tomorrow at 2:00pm. This weekend, Kirkwood travels to Creston, Iowa to play a four-game series with ICCAC foe, Southwestern Community College.

The Hawks won an exciting game 1 by a score of 13-11. Angel Merced racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Kirkwood Eagles. He homered in the first inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning. In game 2, the Eagles won 3-1. Jamison Steege held Heartland CC scoreless for 5 1/3 innings. Jamison allowed two hits, two walks and struck out six. The Kirkwood Eagles never surrendered the lead after the fourth inning, scoring one run on an RBI double by Eric Schenck-Joblinske.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA-- On Saturday, Kirkwood split with #11 ranked Iowa Central, winning the four-game series (3-1). In Game 1, despite a big day at the dish from Sulliam Rios Reyes, who finished 3-3, the Kirkwood Eagles lost 12-0 to Iowa Central CC in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Sunday. In Game 2 of the doubleheader, Kirkwood jumped out to an early lead on Iowa Central CC and captured a 12-4 victory on Sunday at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the Eagles to put the game away early. A groundout by Randy Perez and an RBI single by Austin Schmitt during the second inning helped the Eagles put some runs on the board early.

Matt Paciello got a hit in each of his four at bats. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Jeffrey Castillo got the win for the Eagles. He allowed four runs over six innings.
