KIRKWOODSTUDENTMEDIA.COM- CEDAR RAPIDS, IA-- Although the weather is still cold, the Kirkwood Community College baseball team has been warming up. The Kirkwood Eagles are making the most of their off-season with team lifting and conditioning to get in shape for the upcoming season. Ron Benich, assistant baseball coach, said the team has been in full swing throughout the school year. "The only true off-season we have is two weeks during Christmas break when students are with their families," Benich said.

METROSPORTSREPORT.COM- OVERLAND PARK, KS-- The Kirkwood Eagles lost 7-2 in seven innings at #7 Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS on Friday, despite outhitting Johnson County CC seven to six. The Kirkwood Eagles were led by Brandon Brittain's hitting. Brittain went 2-3 and scored one run. He tripled in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Game two of the doubleheader was decided in the sixth inning as the Kirkwood Eagles fell to Johnson County CC 4-1. Nick Drahozal handled Johnson County CC's lineup with ease, racking up six strikeouts. Nick Drahozal allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over 5 1/3 innings.

METROSPORTREPORT.COM- CEDAR RAPIDS, IA-- It was 66 degrees in Kansas City this past weekend, but those balmy temperatures will be a distant memory by the time the Kirkwood Community College baseball team gets there this week to begin the season. The Eagles are scheduled to play a four-game series against #7 Johnson County Community College (2-0) in the Kansas City area this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The forecast for Friday is for 47 degrees, but the high temperature on Saturday is supposed to be 30 and the high on Sunday is ticketed for 37.
