CEDAR RAPIDS, IA-- The Kirkwood Eagles will not be playing Marshalltown Community College today, April 24th, due to rain. The Eagles (23-12, 8-8) host ICCAC foe NIACC (19-24, 7-13) in a four game series this weekend. The games have been moved from Saturday/Sunday (April 26th and 27th) to Friday/Saturday (April 25th and 26th) with the first pitch scheduled at 1:00 pm on Friday.

Kirkwood has 14 games remaining on their 2014 schedule. This weekend the Eagles square off against NIACC and next weekend (May 2nd and 3rd) the Eagles have a four game series against ICCAC opponent #12 ranked Southeastern Community College (30-15, 14-4). On April 29th, Kirkwood travles to #8 ranked Heartland Community College (28-8) for a doubleheader. Kirkwood split with Heartland earlier in the year: Read The Article HERE. On April 30th, Dakota Community and Technical College (12-11) come to Cedar Rapids for a doubleheader. The last doubleheader of the year will be in Moline, IL against Black Hawk College (19-13).

METROSPORTSREPORT- CRESTON, IA - Matt Paciello drove in five runs Saturday as the Kirkwood Eagles split an ICCAC conference doubleheader with Southwestern Community College in Creston. Southwestern won the first game, 5-3. Kirkwood captured the nightcap, 15-3, in five innings. Paciello drove in two runs in the opener and collected three more RBIs in the second game.

Angel Merced went 3-for-4, drove in three runs and scored three runs for the Eagles (23-12, 8-8) in the second game. Sulliam Rios Reyes went 2-for-3 and scored three runs. Nick Jones, Randy Perez and Shawn Hagarty had two hits. Perez and Milton Croes drove in two runs. Will Ross struck out seven batters and allowed only three hits to get the win for Kirkwood.

METROSPORTSREPORT- CRESTON, IA -- Angel Merced went 7-for-11 and drove in six runs Friday as the Kirkwood Eagles swept an ICCAC doubleheader from Southwestern, 12-2 and 17-15, in Creston. Merced was 4-for-5 with two RBIs in the first game. He continued his hot hitting by going 3-for-6 with four more RBIs in the nightcap. Kirkwood (22-11, 7-7) pounded out 15 hits in both games.

Zach Patterson, Eric Schenck-Joblinske, Nick Jones and Randy Perez had two hits in the first game. Schenck-Joblinske collected a double, triple and two RBIs. Cale Henke struck out 11 batters in seven innings for the victory. Patterson, Sulliam Rios Reyes and Schenck-Joblinske - the top three batters in the lineup - combined to score 10 runs in the second game. Perez went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Shawn Hagarty was 3-for-4 and scored three times. Patterson had two more hits.
