Doug Wilson of Kirkwood has been honored as a first-team All-American by the NJCAA men's basketball selection committee, it was announced Monday.

Wilson led Kirkwood to the 2019 NJCAA Division II national title and had an enormous game in the finals with 30 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks and four assists in a 64-58 victory over Johnson County.

Wilson, a 6-foot-7 sophomore from Des Moines, averaged 21 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.8 blocks to help the Eagles finish with a 31-4 record. He shot 67 percent from the field, which ranked third-best in the country.

Wilson was named a second-team All-American for Kirkwood last season. He has signed to play his next two seasons with South Dakota State, an NCAA Division I school that competes in the Summit Conference.

Wilson is a strong candidate to be named the Junior College Player of the Year.
