Kirkwood Men's Golf Earns National Recognition Following Historic 2025-26 Season

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Following one of the most successful seasons in program history, the Kirkwood Men's Golf team collected an impressive list of postseason honors at the conference, regional and national levels, highlighted by a national champion, multiple All-Americans, and the ICCAC Golfer of the Year.

The Eagles captured their 11th consecutive North Central District Championship during the spring and followed it with a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Championship, cementing their place among the nation's elite programs.

Leading the way was freshman standout Ted Sargeant, who earned ICCAC Golfer of the Year honors after an exceptional debut season. Sargeant averaged 72.0 strokes per round, recorded two tournament victories and six top-three finishes, and finished the year ranked fourth nationally in NJCAA Division II, according to Scoreboard. His signature performance came at the North Central District Championship, where he fired a six-under-par round on his way to medalist honors and became the first Kirkwood golfer to earn ICCAC Golfer of the Year since Brandon McCarty in 2022.

Sargeant was one of three Eagles recognized by the ICCAC as All-Region performers. He and fellow freshman Ryan Lynch earned First Team All-Region honors, while Isaiah Zoske was selected to the Second Team.

Lynch turned in a stellar freshman campaign of his own, posting a 74.8 scoring average and finishing runner-up at the North Central District Championship. His season included a second-place finish at the Southwestern Premier, where he forced a playoff after rounds of 73 and 74.

Zoske finished the year with a 73.3 scoring average and a victory at the Mustang Fall Classic, where he shot three-under par in his collegiate debut. He concluded the season ranked 26th nationally in NJCAA Division II.

The Eagles' success extended beyond the conference level as Sargeant and Zoske were named to the NJCAA Division II PING All-North Region Team, presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The prestigious honor recognizes the top players from programs across the northern region of NJCAA Division II golf.

Sargeant also earned one of the highest individual honors awarded to freshmen in junior college golf, being selected to the GCAA All-Freshman Team. He joined just four other golfers nationwide on the squad, recognizing the top first-year players in NJCAA Division II. Throughout the season, Sargeant established himself as one of the country's premier golfers, helping lead Kirkwood to another district championship while consistently competing among the national leaders.

The Eagles then capped their season with a remarkable performance at the NJCAA Division II National Championship at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.

Sargeant finished tied for third nationally to earn First Team NJCAA All-America honors. His top-three finish placed him among the nation's elite golfers and secured Kirkwood's first First Team All-American selection since the program's national title era.

Joining him was Zoske, who tied for sixth place nationally and also earned First Team All-America recognition. The duo became one of the most accomplished tandems in program history and played a pivotal role in leading the Eagles to a fourth-place team finish against the nation's best competition.

The collection of honors reflects the depth and talent of a Kirkwood squad that continued its tradition of excellence throughout the 2025-26 campaign. Between conference awards, regional recognition and national accolades, the Eagles placed multiple players among the top golfers in the country while extending the program's streak of district championships and adding another memorable chapter to the history of Kirkwood Men's Golf.
