Ashley Tull is named 2022 NJCAA DII National Player of the Year
On Friday, the NJCAA announced the 2021-22 Women's Basketball Players of the Year. Kirkwood's Ashley Tull earned the DII honor this year.
Tull led the Eagles, who finished with a winning record of 36-1, to the Division II NJCAA National Championship.
The Troy Mills, Iowa native was well decorated with awards during her time at Kirkwood. This season, she earned NJCAA First-Team All-American status along with her ICCAC Player of the Year honors and First Team All-Region accolade. Tull was also named to the National Tournament All-Tournament Team and was the Region XI All-Tournament Team MVP.
Tull averaged 11.8ppg and 8.9 rebounds per game. She lead the ICCAC in field goal shooting percentage 57.2%.
The Eagles soared through the Region XI Tournament games, earning wins against DMACC (89-33), NIACC (72-34), and IWCC (65-44). The tougher competition came into play at Port Huron, MI when Kirkwood made it to the National Tournament Championship where the Eagles fought Morton College for the national title (49-44)
Tull plans to continue her basketball and academic career next season, but at this time is undecided.
