Luke Appel had back-to-back 20-point performances last week against Marshalltown and in their conference opener against Iowa Lakes. Against the Tigers, Appel scored 20 points on 50% (6-12) from the field and pulled down 7 boards. Against the Lakers, he scored 21 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and was 7 for 11 from the field. He made six free throws in each game after only shooting six free throws total in five games played this season. Kirkwood is 8-3 and No. 12 in the Division II polls.
