Appel named NJCAA DII Second Team All-American
The co-ICCAC Players of the Year were selected as NJCAA Division II All-Americans.
Iowa Lakes guard Justin Brookens was named to the First Team after an outstanding sophomore season. The Milwaukee native averaged 20 points a night while being one of the most efficient players in the country. He nearly made the 50-40-90 Club, shooting 48.8% from the field, 51.7% from three and 87.6% from the line. He was arguably the best outside shooter in the country finishing fourth in makes (107) and his percentage was second-best. Brookens will play at Northern Michigan University next season.
Luke Appel of Kirkwood made the NJCAA Division II Second Team. A local Iowan, the Marshalltown product averaged 16 points per game and 8.5 rebounds, second-best in the ICCAC. Appel finished his career as a two-time ICCAC All-Region performer and was a member of Kirkwood's 2019 National Championship team. He has signed with South Dakota State University to continue his playing career.
