ICCAC Allotted Six All-American Spots for Men's Basketball
The 2021 NJCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans were released on Wednesday afternoon. Two players were selected to the Division I list with four Division II players earning the honor.
From Division I, Indian Hills' Tyem Freeman was a First Team All-American selection. The 2021 ICCAC Player of the Year helped lead the Warriors to their third straight Region XI Championship. Freeman averaged 18.1 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game. He had nine games with 20 or more points and twice scored over 30. He scored in double figures in 21 of 24 games this season. Freeman was top 10 in both categories in the ICCAC this season.
Southeastern's Koby Issac freshman from Atlanta, Ga., was an Honorable Mention selection. Issac averaged 11.2 points per game and was top 10 in three point shooting in the ICCAC with 48 makes this season.
The ICCAC Division II Player of the Year and NJCAA National Tournament MVP Willie Guy was a First Team All-American honoree. The North Dakota State commit was third in the country in total assists with 166, averaging 6.4 per game. He scored 13 points per game and pulled down just short of 5 rebounds.
Guy led the Bears to their first ever NJCAA National Championship, along with their second consecutive ICCAC regular season title.
Joining Guy on the First Team was Iowa Lakes Xzavier Jones. Jones guided Iowa Lakes to a national semifinal appearance and the third place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. It was the Lakers first NJCAA Tournament appearance since 2013.
Jones was Iowa Lakes leading scorer averaging 13.5 points per game. He was one of the leading rebounders in the conference, pulling down 7.7 boards per game.
Kirkwood's Corvon Seales and NIACC's McKelary Robertson both received Third Team recognition.
Seales was the Eagles' leading scorer at 13.1 points per game. Robertson was the second-leading scorer in the conference averaging 18.7 points per game for the Trojans.
