Eagles Go 2-0 at Kirkwood Quad
Cedar Rapids, IA- The Kirkwood Eagles Volleyball Team made a statement at the inaugural Kirkwood Quad this past Saturday, going a perfect 2-0 and not dropping a single set. Playing in front of their home crowd, the Eagles swept Prairie State and No. 11-ranked Sauk Valley to continue their strong push through their battle-tested schedule.
Match 1: Kirkwood vs. Prairie State
Kirkwood wasted no time establishing control in the day's opening match, dispatching Prairie State in straight sets 25-8, 25-6, 25-5. The Eagles hit an impressive .556 as a team and put together a balanced attack.

Sydney Brandmeyer powered the offense with 10 kills on 16 swings (.562).

Josie Bryan was highly efficient, finishing with 8 kills and a .545 hitting percentage.

Carly Wazac provided a spark off the bench with 10 kills on 11 attempts (.909).

Setter Kaci Johnson ran the offense to perfection, dishing out 17 assists.

Behind the service line, Emily Naughton and Abbie Staats each tallied 3 and 2 aces, respectively.

Defensively, Natalee Hartman led with 9 digs, while Yasmine Sell and Naughton chipped in at the net with 3 blocks apiece.
The Eagles dominated every statistical category, piling up 40 kills to just 5 errors while holding Prairie State to zero kills in the entire match.
Match 2: Kirkwood vs. No. 11 Sauk Valley
In the feature matchup of the day, Kirkwood carried its momentum into the afternoon and handled Sauk Valley, another straight-sets sweep 25-12, 25-16, 25-18.

Kaci Johnson shined with a double-double, recording 12 kills (.407) to go with 12 assists and 9 digs.

Carly Wazac continued her efficient weekend with 10 kills on 19 attempts (.526).

Sydney Brandmeyer added 5 kills and a team-high 7 points at the net with 3 blocks.

Madalyn Boyer contributed 4 kills and led the front line with 6 block assists.

Defensively, Avery Knoop anchored the back row with 9 digs, while also setting up 15 assists and serving 2 aces.

As a team, the Eagles tallied 20 total block assists, frustrating Sauk Valley's hitters throughout.
Kirkwood limited Sauk Valley to a .098 hitting percentage while recording 35 kills of their own and controlling the tempo from start to finish.
