#1 Eagles Roll Past John Wood to Stay Perfect at 5-0

Cedar Rapids, IA-  The top-ranked Kirkwood Eagles Men's Basketball Team continued their dominant start to the 2025–26 season with a decisive 91–60 home victory over John Wood Community College on Tuesday night inside Johnson Hall. The win keeps the Eagles perfect at 5-0 on the year as they gear up for a challenging weekend trip to Missouri to face NJCAA Division I powerhouses Moberly and State Fair Community College.

Balanced Attack Leads the Way

Kirkwood once again showcased its trademark balance and depth, with five players scoring in double figures and 13 total steals fueling a fast-paced, unselfish performance. Sophomore forward Cole Marsh was a force on both ends, posting 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Tyler Netolicky recorded yet another double-double with 13 points and 10 boardsChris Coleman added 12 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting, and sharpshooter Ben Bockman poured in 12 points off the bench, knocking down three triples. Freshman Grayson Wollum made the most of his minutes with 12 points in just 12 minutes of action, continuing his strong early-season impact.

Team Efficiency and Defensive Pressure

After a steady first half, the Eagles caught fire in the second, shooting 63.3% from the field and finishing the night at 51.6% overall. Kirkwood dominated the paint with 56 points inside and controlled the glass with a 44–23 rebound advantage. The bench contributed 46 points, further highlighting the team's depth and relentless tempo. Defensively, Kirkwood forced 18 turnovers, converting them into transition opportunities and easy baskets that broke the game wide open.

The Eagles now turn their attention to a key road trip to Sedalia, Missouri, where they'll test their mettle against perennial NJCAA Division I contenders Moberly Area Community College and State Fair Community College.
