Men's Basketball giving back

On Saturday August 27th Head Coach Bryan Petersen and the entire Kirkwood men's basketball team gave back to the community by spending a few hours with children from the Boys and Girls Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Eagles held their free clinic at Polk Elementary school's outdoor courts. The team welcomed fifteen kids to their inaugural clinic. The team was excited about the number of participants, as it allowed for a one to one ratio between players and kids.

When asked what he saw in his players during the clinic Coach Petersen said "I saw leadership qualities come out of our players." Coach Petersen also mentioned that he had a dual purpose for the clinic, one to give back to the community, but the other was a team bonding exercise.

Petersen also explained that it was nice to see his guys be put in a position outside their comfort zone, "I saw a different side of their personalities and who they are." Petersen also is excited to try and schedule more of these outings in the future.

When asked what was memorable to him coach Petersen said "I really thought the kids were great to work with and I was pleased with the effort the players put into it. With the small ratio of kids and players there was a great deal of quality time spent with each child."
