Wentzien named First Team All-American

CEDAR RAPIDS -- Kirkwood men's basketball player Miles Wentzien has been named a First Team All-American as announced yesterday by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Wentzien, a native of Fort Madison, Iowa and First Team All-Region member, averaged team-highs with 16.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for the Eagles. His shooting prowess ranked him in atop the ICCAC in both three point percentage (45%) and free throw percentage (90.2%), the latter being fourth best in the nation.

This season marks the third consecutive year that a Kirkwood men's basketball player has been named a First Team All-American. Jordan Ashtion (Northern Iowa) was named to the First Team in 2014-15. Following in Ashton's footsteps, Hunter Rhodes (Northern Iowa) was also named to the First Team for 2015-16 season.
