Kirkwood Wins V-Hawk Invitational

Onalaska, WI- The Kirkwood Golf Team traveled to Onalaska, WI this past Monday and Tuesday to compete in the V-Hawk Invitational hosated by Viterbo University. The tournment was at the La Crosse Country Club. The Eagles took first in the 7 team tournament and totaled a two round team score of 301-299--600 on the par 72 course layout. The next closest team to Kirkwood was 30 strokes behind the Eagles. 

Freshman Aaron Estell stood out for the Eagles. Estell would finish 1st place overall in the tournament with a -3 (141). Estell would even out in the first round with 3 birdies on 1, 17, and 18 and bogeys on 7, 13, and 16, but an eagle on the par 5 6th would put him at a -2 (70) for the first round. His second round saw the same type of consistency as three birdies and two bogeys would put him at -1 (71). 

Kirkwood would light up the top of the leaderboard in the two-day tournament. Kirkwood's two individual golfers, Tate Brunk and Owen Wright, woudl take 2nd and 3rd with a +4 (148) and +6 (150) respectively. Reid Hall (+10) would jump 15 spots from round 1 to round 2 and place 5th overall with the Eagle's Quinn Tinkler (+11) and Nathan Offerman (+12) taking 6th and 7th. Kirkwood would have 6 golfers finish in the top 7 of the tournament. 

Kirkwood will be hosting the Eagle Fall Classic this coming Monday (10/14) and Tuesday (10/15) at the Amana Colonies Golf Club for their final fall tournament.
