Kirkwood Golf Claims North Central District Title, Secures National Championship Berth
Sioux City, IA-The Kirkwood Golf Team captured the North Central District Championship at Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa, finishing at +4 and earning a berth to the NJCAA Division II National Championship at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.
Ranked #5 nationally, the Eagles edged out #9 Northeast CC (NE) by three strokes. Kirkwood posted consistent rounds of +1, +4, and -1 over the three-day event to top the 13-team field.
Quinn Tinkler led the Eagles with a second-place individual finish, carding rounds of 70 (-2), 75, and 70 (-2) for a total of 215 (-1). His final round featured six birdies, helping him climb the leaderboard and lock in a crucial low score for the team.
Reid Hall delivered a standout performance in the final round with a 68 (-4), including a 33 on the back nine. He finished tied for 7th overall at +5 with a 54-hole total of 221.
Nathan Offerman also tied for 7th at +5, shooting rounds of 71 (-1), 79, and 71 (-1). Tate Brunk contributed with rounds of 76, 71 (-1), and 78 to finish +9, while Leo Burger posted 72, 71, and 83 to finish at +10.
The championship win secures Kirkwood's spot at the national stage as they prepare to compete against the top teams in the country.
With the district title in hand, Kirkwood now shifts focus to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, set for Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana held from May 20th to May 23rd.
