Kirkwood Tops Competitive Field to Win Blueboy Invitational
Springfield, IL- The Kirkwood men's golf team captured the Blueboy Invitational title this past weekend at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Illinois, finishing with an even-par total of 576 (288-288) over two rounds. The Eagles outpaced a 19-team field, including NCAA Division III and junior college programs, en route to the championship.
Consistent Scoring Across Both Rounds
Kirkwood was the only team to not finish above par on the weekend, thanks to balanced play from all five golfers. Their back-to-back team scores of 288 secured a five-shot victory over second-place Illinois Wesleyan (+5, 581), and a comfortable eight-shot cushion over Dubuque University.
Day One Highlights – Thursday, April 10
Nate Offerman led the way for the Eagles on day one with a 2-under-par 70, highlighted by three birdies on the front nine and a 3-under 32 going out. Quinn Tinkler and Reid Hall each carded solid rounds of even-par 72, while Tanner Wachtl contributed a 74.
Leo Burger posted an 80 on Thursday, which did not count toward the team score, but he would bounce back in a big way.
Day Two Highlights – Friday, April 11
Kirkwood held steady on day two with another team score of 288. Leo Burger posted the team's low round of the weekend with a 4-under-par 68, including three birdies on the back nine. Reid Hall again shot 72, staying even across both rounds.
Tinkler and Offerman both turned in rounds of 74 to round out the scoring.
