Kirkwood Takes Runner-Up Finish at Spring Preview at Whispering Creek
Sioux City, IA- The Kirkwood Community College men's golf team earned a second-place finish at the Spring Preview held at Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa. The Eagles, ranked No. 6 nationally, posted a team score of +26, finishing just one stroke behind tournament champion Northeast CC (+25) in a competitive nine-team field.
Kirkwood held off several nationally ranked teams, including Alexandria T&CC (#18), Hawkeye CC (#22), and Southeast CC (#19). The Eagles edged out both Alexandria and Hawkeye, who tied for third at +30.
Reid Hall led the way for the Eagles with a solid round of 75 (+3), highlighted by birdies on holes 1, 4, and 16. Nathan Offerman and Quinn Tinkler each carded rounds of 79 (+7), providing steady contributions in the middle of the lineup. Leo Burger rounded out the team score with an 81 (+9), and Tate Brunk added an 82 (+10) in his round.
Three individual Kirkwood players also competed in the field. Tanner Wachtl matched the 79s of Offerman and Tinkler to tie for 14th. Jacob Ngo and Aaron Estell each shot 81, while Payton Burns posted an 89 (+17).
