#7 Eagles Dominate Field at Visit Midwest Tournament, Go 4-0 in Oklahoma
Midwest City, OK- The #7 Kirkwood Eagles Softball team turned heads this weekend in Oklahoma, going a perfect 4-0 at the Visit Midwest Tournament while outscoring opponents 49-7. The statement weekend included a dominant win over the #1 ranked team in NJCAA Division III (North Dakota State College of Science) and victories over three NJCAA Division I programs.
Game One: Eagles Roll Past Vernon College, 9-0
Kirkwood opened the weekend with a 9-0 shutout victory over Vernon College, breaking the game open with a seven-run second inning.
Mischa Reiners launched a home run and drove in two runs, while Alley Gorsh went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Taylor Dieterich added a home run and four RBIs in the win.
In the circle, Libby Trewin was masterful, tossing a one-hit shutout over five innings to secure the victory and set the tone for the weekend.
Game Two: Offensive Explosion in 13-5 Win Over Frank Phillips
The Eagles' bats stayed hot in game two, erupting for 13 runs on eight hits in a 13-5 victory over Frank Phillips College.
Breckin De La Rosa had a monster performance, blasting a home run and driving in six RBIs. Kinsley Theobald added a double and three RBIs, while Camryn Johnson went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Taylor Dieterich earned the win in the circle, and the bullpen combination of Carley Cavanagh and Ada Wood shut the door to secure Kirkwood's second win of the day.
Statement Win: Eagles Hammer #1 NDSCS, 21-2
The highlight of the weekend came Sunday morning, as Kirkwood dismantled the #1 ranked team in NJCAA Division III, North Dakota State College of Science, by a stunning 21-2 margin.
The Eagles pounded out 19 hits and launched six home runs in a jaw-dropping offensive showcase.
Taylor Dieterich delivered one of the most impressive stat lines of the season, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Shannon Finn homered and drove in three, while Mischa Reiners, Alley Gorsh, Breckin De La Rosa, and Jessa DeMoss all added long balls.
Addison Ohda went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, and Macie Fisher added two hits in the rout.
Trewin once again dominated in the circle, striking out seven over five innings to earn her sixth win of the season.
Final Game: Eagles Close Weekend with 6-1 Win Over Garden City
Kirkwood capped the tournament with a 6-1 victory over Garden City Community College.
Taylor Dieterich continued her big weekend, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Kinsley Theobald added a two-run homer and stole two bases, while Shannon Finn drove in two runs.
Ada Wood delivered a complete-game performance in the circle, allowing just one run over seven innings while striking out four to seal the 4-0 weekend.

Across four games, Kirkwood's offense produced 49 runs and 41 hits while launching nine home runs. The pitching staff allowed just seven total runs, highlighted by two dominant performances from Trewin and a complete game from Wood.
