Eagles Dominate Redtails with Pair of Shutouts in ICCAC Sweep
HUDSON, IA- The #4 Kirkwood Eagles Softball team put together a commanding midweek performance on Wednesday, traveling to Hudson, IA, and sweeping the Hawkeye Community College Redtails in dominant fashion. The Eagles blanked the Redtails in both games, winning 6-0 and 15-0, showcasing elite pitching and explosive offense.
Game 1: Trewin Tosses Gem in 6-0 Victory
Kirkwood set the tone early and never looked back in game one, combining timely hitting with a dominant performance in the circle.
Shannon Finn and Mischa Reiners led the offensive charge at the top of the lineup, each collecting two hits and scoring twice. Alley Gorsh added a strong performance with two hits and two RBIs, while Addison Ohda delivered the biggest swing of the game with a triple and 3 RBIs to pace the Eagles.
Kirkwood's aggressiveness on the bases created additional pressure, with Finn, Reiners, and Kinsley Theobald all swiping bags.
In the circle, Libby Trewin was lights out. The right-hander tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out nine to improve to 13-2 on the season. Hawkeye managed only two baserunners via walks, as Trewin completely controlled the game from start to finish.
Game 2: Offensive Explosion Fuels 15-0 Rout
The Eagles followed up their strong opener with an offensive outburst in game two, plating 15 runs on 14 hits in a run-rule shortened contest.
Taylor Dieterich headlined the performance with a massive day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and an incredible 7 RBIs. Mischa Reiners stayed hot, finishing 2-for-2 with a home run and 3 RBIs, while Shannon Finn added two runs and an RBI.
Savannah Caves provided a spark at the bottom of the order, going 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a triple, while Macie Fisher chipped in with two hits and an RBI.
Kirkwood's lineup showed depth from top to bottom, with multiple players contributing to a relentless offensive attack that scored in every inning.
In the circle, Carley Cavanagh and Ada Wood combined for a one-hit shutout, allowing just two walks while keeping the Redtails off balance throughout. Cavanagh earned the win, improving to 6-0 on the season.

The Eagles will hit the road again this weekend for a busy slate, traveling to NIACC for a doubleheader on Saturday before heading to Iowa Lakes for another doubleheader on Sunday, totaling four games across the weekend.
