Eagles Kickoff ICCAC Play With 2 Wins Over NIACC

Cedar Rapids, IA- 

Game 1:

                In the conference opener, the score was all knotted up at 0-0 until the the 4th when the Eagles plated 3 runs on two pass balls and a hit by pitch by Landon Frost with the bases loaded. NIACC responded in the top of the 5th with 3 runs of their own on a HR to right field. With the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 6th, Addison Binne hit a double down the left field line to give the Eagles a 5-3 lead. Boede Rahe got the start and was nothing short of dominate. He went the distance for the third time this season, allowing only 6 hits, 0 walks, and striking out 12 hitters to earn the win. He has now thrown 29 innings this year without giving up an earned run to go with 50 strikeouts.

 

Game 2:

                In game 2, the Kirkwood offense led the way scoring 19 runs en route to run-ruling the Trojans. Jaxon Schumacher got it rolling in the bottom of the 1st with a 3-run double to give the Eagles and early 3-1 lead. In the 3rd, the Eagle offense plated 4 more runs on back to back two RBI doubles by Ty Andrews and Adam Kayko. The Eagles would go on to score 1 more in the 4th and three more in the 5th to give them a 11-2 lead after the 5th. NIACC responded with 5 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to make it an 11-9. In the bottom of the 7th, the Eagle offense caught fire, scoring 8 runs. Cal Sullivan hit a mammoth 3-run HR to left-field and Andrews ended the game with a HR to left as well to give the Eagles a 19-9 win.
