Eagles Roll Through Mason City With 13-3 Win
Mason City, IA- The Kirkwood Eagles baseball team put together another dominant performance Thursday afternoon, rolling past North Iowa Area Community College with a 13-3 road win in Mason City.
Kirkwood's offense got to work early, scoring five runs in the top of the first and never looking back. The Eagles pounded out 15 hits and 13 RBIs, with eight of nine starters recording a hit and seven players driving in runs.
Catcher Ty Andrews led the offensive charge with a 4-for-5 effort at the plate, including two home runs, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Cal Sullivan added three hits and two doubles, while Jaxon Schumacher went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Lane Spieker and Alex Altmann each contributed two RBIs of their own, with Spieker also going deep.
Blake Lundholm set the tone at the top of the order, reaching base three times and swiping two bases.
On the mound, Boede Rahe improved to 5-1 on the season, throwing six strong innings. He allowed just five hits and three earned runs while striking out nine and walking three. Adrian Broadus came on in the seventh and closed it out with a clean frame, striking out one.
Kirkwood scored in six of the seven innings, including a three-run fifth that stretched their lead to double digits. The Eagles also took advantage of three NIACC errors, while playing error-free baseball themselves.
