Eagles Soar in Home Rout, Cruise Past Southwestern by 79

Cedar Rapids, IA- The #2 Kirkwood Women's Basketball Team put on a dominant display Wednesday night inside Johnson Hall, overwhelming Southwestern Community College from the opening tip in a 105–26 victory. The 79-point margin highlighted the Eagles' depth, defensive intensity, and offensive efficiency as they continued their impressive run in ICCAC play.

Kirkwood set the tone immediately, racing out to a 26–1 lead after the first quarter and never letting up. The Eagles shot over 50 percent from the field, knocked down 10 three-pointers, and controlled every phase of the game. Relentless pressure on the defensive end forced 34 turnovers, which Kirkwood converted into 44 points, keeping Southwestern on its heels all night.

The Eagles' balance was evident throughout the box score. Claire Hudson led the way with 13 points, while Dasia Foster added 11 points and five rebounds. Madison Stowater reached double figures with 10 points, and Kirkwood saw contributions from across the roster, finishing with 61 bench points and 28 assists on 36 made field goals.

Defensively, Kirkwood was just as sharp, holding Southwestern to 19.1 percent shooting for the game and allowing just one point in the opening quarter. The Eagles dominated the paint, won the rebounding battle, and consistently turned stops into scoring opportunities.

With the decisive win, Kirkwood now shifts its focus to the Cougar Holiday Tournament in East Peoria, Illinois. The Eagles will open tournament play on December 28 at 12:00 p.m. against Palm Beach State.
