Eagles Soar to Dominant Home Win Over Southeastern
Cedar Rapids, IA- The #5 Kirkwood Eagles put on a show Saturday afternoon inside Johnson Hall, delivering one of their most dominant performances of the season in a 94–42 rout of the Southeastern Blackhawks. From the opening tip, Kirkwood controlled every facet of the game, racing out to a 31–12 first-quarter lead and never looking back as they cruised to a 52-point victory.
Kirkwood's defensive pressure set the tone early, forcing turnovers and turning them into points at a relentless pace. The Eagles scored 39 points off turnovers and completely owned the paint, outscoring Southeastern 64–6 inside. By halftime, Kirkwood had already built a commanding 55–23 advantage, showcasing both their depth and efficiency on the offensive end.
The Eagles were balanced throughout the lineup, with multiple players making impactful contributions in limited minutes. Erianna Moeschter led the way with 16 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting, while Olivia Wren added 14 points and four assists to keep the offense humming. Whitney Sullivan chipped in 13 points and five rebounds, and Kirkwood continued to roll fresh bodies onto the floor without any drop-off in intensity. In all, the Eagles finished with 32 assists on 40 made field goals, a testament to their unselfish ball movement and offensive rhythm.
Defensively, Kirkwood smothered the Blackhawks from start to finish, holding Southeastern to just 25.5 percent shooting from the field and single-digit scoring in the fourth quarter. The Eagles also dominated the glass, outrebounding Southeastern 53–22 and piling up 20 second-chance points to further widen the gap as the game wore on.
With the win, Kirkwood improves to 16–2 overall and 10–1 in ICCAC play, continuing to cement its place among the conference's elite and building momentum at the right time of the season.
