Eagles Clamp Down Defensively, Cruise Past Spartans in Creston
Creston, IA- The #7 Kirkwood Eagles Women's Basketball team delivered a dominant performance Thursday night in Creston, IA, rolling past Southwestern Community College 91–24. The Eagles controlled the game from the opening tip, building a commanding 65–10 halftime lead and never allowing the Spartans to reach double figures in any quarter.
Kirkwood set the tone immediately, racing out to a 33–6 advantage after the first quarter before overwhelming Southwestern again in the second. Relentless defensive pressure and efficient scoring fueled a 55-point halftime cushion, as the Eagles turned turnovers into points and consistently won the battle inside.
The Eagles' balance was on full display, with multiple players making key contributions. Bra'Ja Torry finished with 11 points and five assists, while Whitney Sullivan and Molly Roling each added 10 points. Dasia Foster was perfect inside, scoring 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting, and Kaci Crum chipped in 10 points of her own. Kirkwood recorded 28 assists on the night and received 55 points from the bench, underscoring the team's depth and unselfish play.
Defensively, Kirkwood was locked in from start to finish, holding Southwestern to just 24 points on the night. The Eagles controlled the paint, limited second chances, and forced difficult shots throughout, turning the contest into a statement road win.
