Eagles Drop to Hawks in Overtime
Norfolk, NE- The #3 Kirkwood Women's Basketball Team battled through four quarters and overtime on the road Saturday afternoon but came up just short in a hard-fought 78–70 overtime loss to the Northeast Hawks in Norfolk, Nebraska. The setback marked the Eagles' first ICCAC loss of the season.
Kirkwood came out sharp early, building a 20–11 lead after the first quarter behind efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure. After a cold second quarter offensively, the Eagles responded with a big third-quarter push, pouring in 23 points to regain momentum and keep the game tightly contested heading into the fourth.
Olivia Wren led the Eagles with 18 points, knocking down five three-pointers and playing 42 minutes in the loss. Aaliyah Riley delivered an all-around performance with 10 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while Erianna Moeschter added an efficient 9 points on 4-of-5 shooting. Kaci Crum contributed eight points and a team-high eight rebounds, helping Kirkwood control the glass throughout regulation.
Northeast used a decisive 13–5 run in the extra period to secure the win. The Hawks capitalized on second-chance opportunities and bench scoring late, pulling away in the final minutes.
